Improving teacher effectiveness through meaningful professional learning experiences.

Our Founder

Dr. Lakeiah Cheatham

Edu-D.O.T.S. was founded by Lakeiah Cheatham. She is an award winning educator with over two decades of educational experience in large public urban and suburban school districts, early childhood settings, and private education as a teacher, principal, trainer, and coach.

Education is her passion as she knows first-hand how it can change the trajectory of one’s life. Her specialty is helping educators connect the dots between how they currently perform and how they want to perform.

Lakeiah is happily married to Victor Cheatham Jr., and together they have 5 children (Imari, Victor III, Karington, Klarke, and Karson).  They have made a loving home in Wylie, Texas.  Victor and Lakeiah Cheatham pride themselves on spending time with family and giving back to communities through educational scholarships.  They currently have an endowed scholarship in Wylie Independent School District and working on adding more in the near future.

How It Works?

Edu-D.O.T.S. invites a small cohort of teachers, within their first to fifth year of teaching, to partake in a yearlong professional learning experience. The expectation is for each cohort member to fully engage in research-based practices to continuously improve their craft. We meet in a variety of settings (ex. in person, online, etc..) on average of once a month throughout the school year. Every cohort member is invited to engage in the Edu-D.O.T.S. learning community throughout their professional career and beyond. We intend to make learning personal. When learning is personal it is easy to take ownership of growth areas, help others improve, and passionately pursue excellence.

The Process:

Our Services

A relationship with a community of learners to actively connect and grow with through the educator’s educational journey and beyond.

“A serving of vision, action, and continuous improvement will feed you a lifetime.”

~Dr. Lakeiah Cheatham

We Believe In

Continuous Improvement

We believe our best self is developed daily. We encourage and foster an environment to use and seek out resources to help educators be better in a safe and non-threatening space.  Better teachers, colleagues, community partners, etc. As we get better so will the world around us.

Making Learning Personal

We believe in providing professional learning to equip educators with the tools to improve their craft which will ultimately lead to student achievement. Our professional learning is an educator’s personal growth model. Making learning personal allows educators to take ownership of growth areas, help others improve, and passionately pursue excellence.

Increasing Thy Impact

We believe an educator who has the right support systems in place can exponentially increase their impact with all stakeholders. Every teacher has the power to change the world and we help educators harness that power.

Testimonials

“Lakeiah Cheatham facilitated a professional development program that provided an environment where educators could freely discuss vulnerable topics with one another. Achieving this by promoting the understanding that the space and information shared is sacred. Through this, I gained experience by asking “hard questions” that all educators have as they learn to navigate this world-impacting, life-changing profession. Overall, being involved with Edu-D.O.T.S was not at all what I anticipated. This cohort became and flourished into an experience I am grateful for. From the community centered on growth to the ability to share interests, goals, and experiences with. I am overjoyed for this experience with the community of life-long learners; and would recommend Edu-D.O.T.S. to any educator looking for an ‘out of the box’ professional development experience.”

“Edu-D.O.T.S helped me see things from different perspectives. In this field, it definitely takes all hands on deck to reach success. We are one big family, team, and this just reminded me of what I am a part of. This made me realize while I am an educator, I am also human. I will not always get it right, but I will always grow in some form or fashion.” .
